Island Fertility

I left an astonishing review for Dr Trivax. However, the billing department at Island Fertility is an absolute nightmare. Over the span of our treatment, my wife and I have been hit with multiple, duplicate bills (PAID IN FULL), and yet for some reason we keep receiving the same bill in the mail over. And now, we have to worry about facing collections! This department needs to get their act together immediately. I loved the treatment here, but everything else that’s occurred has diminished our happiness.

I never want to see anyone go through what my wife had to go through , Incredible Doctors however the office is ran so unbelievably poorly from the billing department to the front desk it’s always been an issue but we loved our Dr and stuck it out you will literally leave in tears and I mean that with TRUE sincerity and it seems if the office manager gets an attitude it gets turned to the patient and patient gets diverted to any other clinic reassured that they would transfer you smoothly because they don’t want to deal with anything anymore so the less patients the easier their workload they do NOT answer calls and when they do it’s a return call hours later by that time being timing is crucial you have to miss a cycle because you get an e-mail on the way for the Procedure stating the specimen is in storage and been charged the fee naturally we assume the specimen is elsewhere but we can’t reach anyone to get the proper answer ( 11 am they call saying sorry if we rush before they close they can squeeze us in ) definitely not with using a specimen so we lost that entire cycle fast forward to next partner finally gets pregnant and looses baby she experienced her first chemical pregnancy via IUI #3 she was a patient for 2 years no I’m “ sorry “ no nothing instead we were told to have our specimen sent lightning speed to their clinic and proceed with our what would have been iui #4 ( coming to an end of the journey ) my wife gets told by the office manager one of the office staff complained about her being rude and talking over the front desk trust me I’m her husband I know rude lol never happened but she didn’t say a word back to this manager on the phone I’m just watching my wife pouring tears ! we took the memorial weekend where we lost another cycle for the office closed when she was ovulating and spoke to as many family members / friends and also a counselor who could not fathom what has taken place I never seen my wife so sad before I think this all just came out of nowhere had she known this was how managers handle things I don’t think we would have stayed and definitely wouldn’t have had the specimen shipped overnight as I said since day 1 it’s been a nightmare with the billing and front office we are currently thrown for such a loop at this particular moment on do we just end our journey like this and have them just dispose of $2000 of specimen? or do we take the specimen elsewhere and start all over when we only had 2 more IUI left 🤦‍♂️ The emotions alone without any unnecessary stress is unbearable nevertheless going through this I feel for anyone who has endured any pain from an office it’s not okay and it’s your right as a patient to know it’s not okay even if your dr is good at the end of the day they are going to believe office managers and staff and you will be your own advocate there’s nowhere to even turn it is supposed to be the office managers job to make sure all patients are being taken care of by their staff but she clearly didn’t like that we expressed our concerns/ feelings however leaving should’ve never came out of her mouth her drs are losing many patients on their own leaving according to these reviews I’m reading nevertheless being helped to leave it’s here say and it was the day we lost the cycle and nobody was answering the phones as per usual ⚠️⚠️

I have been coming here for a little bit over a year. I love doctor Trivax and all of the medical staff. However it is impossible to get in touch with billing which can be very frustrating. In a year and a half I have received a call back from billing 2x and only when I asked my doctor to reach out to billing on my behalf.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Island Fertility and everyone that works there. They made me feel calm, comfortable, and extremely supported. Their kindness, communication, and availability is extraordinary. I have never received this level of patient/ customer service. Highly Recommend!!!!!

My experience with Island Fertility has left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I must commend the doctors and nurses for their professionalism and expertise, which instilled great confidence in us. However, there is a major drawback that needs to be addressed—the difficulty in getting in touch with anyone.Despite the excellent care during our appointments, the process of contacting the office has been incredibly frustrating. We constantly have problems reaching the office staff, often requiring us to leave numerous messages before receiving a response or obtaining necessary information for the next steps. This issue has persisted for almost three months since we became patients, and it has become a recurring problem.One specific incident that stood out was when my wife had to contact the office to inquire about ordering a necessary medication for an upcoming appointment. The staff confirmed the need for the medication, but it raises concerns about whether they would have remembered it without her reminder.This lack of timely communication becomes particularly distressing when dealing with time-sensitive fertility treatments. As patients seeking fertility solutions, we are already under significant stress and eagerly seeking answers and support. Regrettably, it appears that Island Fertility does not place a high priority on patient sensitivity.Overall, the medical expertise displayed by the doctors and nurses is commendable. However, unless the communication issues are rectified, I cannot envision myself recommending Island Fertility to a loved one.

Same as others who have posted on this site we expressed we did not want to keep our abnormal embryos and that we would not use them however just like previous posts. We were sent a bill 5 months after ins stopped paying for them for over $400. All paperwork sent in as requested but just like many drs offices, you can’t get a return phone calls for months as they continue to bill you.

Dr. Stelling is a miracle worker in my life. He gave me the family I always dreamed of - my 2 boys, 4.5 years apart. He is skilled, knowledgeable, kind and patient. It was a long road to my first son full of hardships but he and his staff always met me with a level of compassion and understanding that is unmatched. I put my full trust in him and I am so glad I did. His staff is incredible - from front desk to techs to embryologists and his colleagues. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with such a sensitive and important journey in any individual or couples life. I could never recommend him enough and my gratitude to him and his team is immeasurable.

I started going to the practice early 2023. I did the IUI procedure in Feb 2023 and it failed. I waited months and did work within myself and partner went back and did again in September and it successfully worked! I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant. Dr. Stelling was my Dr soft spoken man had me on the course to conceive. Office visits could be a long wait depending on the day. The ultrasound techs and blood techs were nice and showed genuine care and concern. Overall nice and clean , decent people nice practice.

I keep getting bills about a service that was part of the package but now apparently I have to pay separately because the billing department doesnt know what they are doing.And they never call back they just keep sending the bills.

Complete nightmare trying to get people on the phone At this place. I dont care how good the doctors are completely unacceptable. Wasted multiple days playing phone tag. INSANE

I was impressed with the level of care, thoroughness and cleanliness of the office. The building is brand new, the offices are brand new and it feels like a great place with a huge lobby and plenty of parking. The staff is very friendly, nurses always get back to you when you leave a message and the portal is always updated after your appointment. Dr. Safier is the best, love her!! She sat with me, explained in detail anything I wanted to know and guided me throughout the processes. Currently pregnant through IVF, after many IUIs and a failed IVF, second one was a charm!

I have called this office three times to become a new patient and it’s been a week and I haven’t received a call back…. That being said I will not even go here for fertility check ups if no one can even call me back as a NEW PATIENT. I can’t even imagine how stressful that would be for current patients undergoing treatment. This has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I had such bad experience with this fertility place. I had two unsuccessful IFV cycles. After they retrieved my embryos and fertilized them they told me that the embryos were abnormal and they will discard them, my husband and I signed a form to consent that. 6 Months later we received an invoice for storage- embryo monthly fee of total of $ 400. I was in shocked called several times to the billing department asking questions about this bill and no one gives me an answer. They threatened me to send me to collection if I don’t pay this bill.This is a mess and they’re so disorganized with your personal information now, I can even trust if my IVF treatment was accurate with the results. I’m still dealing with the invoice until now.

I cannot urge you strongly enough to not use this office as you will be financially responsible for their incompetence. I owe thousands, despite insurance covering all of the procedures, due to the way they handled my paperwork.I first made an appointment in December 22. The first appointment they offered was in March 23. I booked it & found out the insurance I had at the time did not cover anything. I wound up taking a new job, drastically cutting my salary, in order to have insurance that would cover the fertility treatments. My new insurance wouldn’t being until April 23. I called the office, pushed back the appointment, & provided my updated insurance information.A few days before the appointment, you have to fill out paperwork on the patient portal. I saw my old insurance was listed as my current insurance. I updated it on the portal, then called the office to update, for a 3rd time, my insurance info. They didn’t update it. They listed my old insurance as my primary insurance & my current insurance as my secondary insurance. It took 3 more phone calls on my part, then a call from my husband and going in person to an appt before the correct insurance was reflected. This should have been the first red flag.Prior to our first appointment, I called my insurance company. Everything was covered.Jump to July, four months later- after three rounds of IUIs, I am finally pregnant. I receive a phone call from island fertility asking for a referral. This is something typically done long before the first appointment. Had they updated the insurance, like I requested repeatedly, this would’ve been handled months ago. The woman on the phone just asks that I call my obgyn and get a referral letter with some basic information. I do and my obgyn office sends it over. A week later I get a call from island fertility saying they never got it. I call my obgyn and they provide me with the time and confirmation number of the fax. Island fertility insists they don’t have it. Obgyn send over another one. Same thing happens.I then contact my primary dr, as my OBGYN office informs me that my insurance will only accept a referral from a primary- isn’t this something island fertility should know?!The same thing happens. My primary sends over two letters. I go back and forth for WEEKS over whether or not the other offices sent the referral letters. The girl from island fertility just keeps claiming they don’t have them and keeps sayings she’s “new” and doesn’t really know what’s going on- tells me over and over someone more experienced will call me to figure out what’s happening. They never call. It’s just the new girl calling me each week asking for a referral.Eventually, someone else calls me asking for the referral; I explain the situation. She says the drs office has to send the referral to my insurance not island fertility. Why is island fertility then checking their fax records each week, telling me they never got anything from either of my drs if that’s not even the protocol? Terribly trained staff. The attitudes from the girls I spoke with during this time were shocking.I started receiving bills for procedures that are covered by my insurance. I go back and forth with island fertility and back and forth with my insurance. Island fertility didn’t send over proper paperwork and were missing images from scans so Insurance denied coverage- island fertility mails me the bill…. I somehow owe $1900 because they didn’t do their job properly?!Two weeks ago (October) I receive a call. My IUI has been denied.. my first one, that happened in May, was just processed and denied. Due to their incompetence ONCE AGAIN. I had three IUIs in total, which typically run 3-5k out of pocket. I’m looking at possibly 17k worth of medical debt for procedures that would’ve been covered if ISLAND FERTILITY DID THEIR JOB PROPERLY!There are plenty of other fertility clinics- go use someone else! This was such a headache and it’s really just beginning! Unless you want to go into financial debt and get a lawyer, I’d suggest going ANYWHERE else!!!

I wish I had read the reviews, this place deserves negative stars. I did a sonogram and a mass was found… it’s been almost a month and they still will not send a simple fax to my insurance company that’s asking for “office notes and documents”. Island Fertility last attempted on may 8th, after that I called the insurance and the insurance said they have yet to receive anything. I got a direct fax number to the radiology dept at United healthcare and a number to confirm that it’s been received, Island Fertility still hasn’t even attempted to send it. I call and leave messages and they never call back. My doctor was Sullivan Pyke… I know doctors arent expected to care but you’d think she’d check on me or try to rectify the situation…nope! They are scheduled to close at 3pm sometimes they are closed at 2:10. Mentally I’m exhausted, avoid this place at all costs. This is still pending hopefully I can get a response sometime this year.

Dr. Sullivan Pyke is the epitome of excellence! She was attentive, knowledgeable, compassionate, and kind. I was at ease talking to her and sensed that she cared about her patients. Im super excited to work with her and have full confidence in her experience and expertise. I believe everything happens in its divine time, but I sure do wish I had found her sooner!

Been coming here for almost a month now and I just adore the staff. And Dr. Stelling is an amazing doctor. He performed my uterine biopsy and I barely felt anything just pressure not pain I worked up in my head lol 😂. I’m excited to become a mother a second time. 😁

Dr. Trivax is one of a kind! He has been walking me through and getting me prepared for everything to come. He has calmed all of my anxiety, letting me know he is in this with us and is always available if we have any concerns or questions. The office staff is exceptional from making my appointment with Melanie to the nurses calling with updates. Everyone has been more than helpful and compassionate. I highly recommend this office!

Staff has always been helpful and attentive to our needs. They get back to us quickly when messages are left. Really enjoy the location and cleanliness of the facility and how welcoming the staff is under the circumstances

The best practice Ive ever been too! Its run so well! I always refer to it as a smooth running machine to anyone and everyone. I love how I can utilize the patient portal to review my labs and to communicate with the clinical staff (who always get back to me through the portal AND via phone the same day as I send my message). If my physician gets pulled to do a procedure, they will always have someone covering to ensure you keep your appointment. I see Dr. Trivax and would recommend him to anyone and everyone! When he wasnt there I saw one of the nurse practitioners and she was LOVELY! Even offered to do my trigger injection for me! I also spoke to the Practice Admin in regards to a question on my bill - she got back to me within a day with a full explanation and I was able to understand my bill better. Very happy with this practice!

I wish I had read these reviews before I started seeing Dr. Stelling. I can literally cut and paste the review of his former patient as I’ve had the exact experience:“For the passed year, I have been at Island Fertility… here I am a year later, and I literally have to watch and follow up with every department there. Insurance, Billing, Prescriptions and even nurses at times. They have become increasingly stressful to work with. I have even caught the doctors more than once assuming things instead of looking into my file before speaking with me- when it came to prescription doses and even procedures Ive had during cycles. This is not the care I anticipate from Stelling or from a highly recommended office.”In my case every time walked in the door l, the nurses were trying to give me IVF. That was not the in plan Dr Stelling and I discussed at all. They did it again when I took my partner there to get checked out. Fed up with the assumptions, I had asked that Dr Stelling call me to make sure he knew the plan we agreed on and that it was written in my charts. When he called to reassure me, he was able to give me the preliminary results my partner’s test but said there was one more result he was waiting for. Based on the first two results he told me it did not look good. They never called me or my partner with the official results leaving me to assume it’s pretty much hopeless. Four months later my partner missed a call from the office. He called back and left a message but its now two weeks later and nothing.“This is not the care I anticipated from Stelling or from a highly recommended office.”At first, I thought that this inattentive care was due to the bias that Black women are often dismissed by health care professionals. But after reading the other women’s reviews it’s evident that they simply lack professionalism. Furthermore, Dr Stelling talks fast. It feels like they are running a drive thru with how quick they try to get you out.Needless to say I’m collecting my charts and heading to a facility with brown doctors who listen, care and offer guidance.

Highly recommend Island Fertility. Dr. Stelling gave us our miracle baby. He is super knowledgeable, patient and reassuring. The nurses are very responsive to messages and get back quickly. Dr. Stelling himself is even responsive via messaging & over the phone. The facility itself is super clean & updated. Island made such a difficult journey easier for us. I have recommended friends to see Dr. Stelling. We are so grateful!

I have been a patient of Dr. Stellings for 18 years. I first started with him at RSofNY. Last year when he changed practices to Island Fertility, I followed him in hopes to get pregnant for a second time. For the passed year, I have been at Island Fertility. At first, I gave them a pass, thinking it was a new office and they had to work the kinks out. But here I am a year later, and I literally have to watch and follow up with every department there. Insurance, Billing, Prescriptions and even nurses at times. They have become increasingly stressful to work with. I have even caught the doctors more than once assuming things instead of looking into my file before speaking with me- when it came to prescription doses and even procedures Ive had during cycles. This is not the care I anticipate from Stelling or from a highly recommended office.Although I trust Stelling wholeheartedly, and value his expertise, I find myself questioning if it is worth it to dealing with his office staff. It really is a shame.

Dr. Safier & the team at Island Fertility are absolutely wonderful. Beyond being compassionate and so caring, she is an excellent physician.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Stelling and the staff at Island Fertility. While we saw all the doctors at the clinic at various points, our main doctor was Dr. Stelling. He was always willing to hear our comments, questions, concerns - explained things thoroughly and would adjust the treatment accordingly. Bonus if you like listening to podcasts at 2x speed because he speaks quickly.The staff from the receptionists, nurses, sonographers, and everyone I interacted with was kind, friendly, and understanding about how stressful the whole process is.There can be a bit of a wait at times and that can be stressful and frustrating especially when trying to schedule around work. But at the same time, its the nature of the clinic. People have to go in on specific days of cycles that cant all be predicted. sometimes it feels overbooked with the long wait times. They accommodate everyone without fail to come in on the day they need to. And they never rush patients to get through the cases faster. For 99.9% of visits, you will see a doctor and mostly your doctor. Its good for patient care, but can be difficult for people with less flexible work schedules.We were lucky to eventually be a success story and are so grateful to Island Fertility and Dr. Stelling for our daughter.

Dr. Trivax and his team are such special individuals. Our experience at Island Fertility has been and continues to be extra ordinary. Dr. T and the nurses always take time to answer all our questions. They are kind, patient, knowledgeable, sympathetic and caring. No better place to be at experiencing this difficult time in our lives. I highly recommend them even if you have to travel 50 miles each way :)

The experience was horrible. The organization was subpar. The medical assistant actually put the translator through her own private cell phone speaker then through zoom. It was amateur hour meet twilight zone . Completely disappointed , then the doctor Kept making comments and jokes about my partner’s physical appearance. Beyond disappointing and total lack of respect and inappropriate timing and setting of jokes .Speechless ,if I could give -1000 stars I would.

It was my first time in the office for bloodwork and ultrasound after only having a virtual consult with Dr. Trivax. Our temperature was taken, everyone was wearing a mask (some were wearing gloves), and no latex is used in the office which is nice since Im allergic. There was a bit of a wait but we were in no rush. I do like that they keep you in the room for both the ultrasound and bloodwork so your exposure to more people is minimal. My ultrasound tech was nice, not the most comfortable part of this process but she tried to not cause me more discomfort than it already is. Christina drew my blood (I made sure to read her name tag), it is not easy to do. My veins are small and most people cause me pain and bruising. It was a minimal pinch and she was great through the process. She even brought me cranberry juice after because I was feeling a bit sick. We then waited to meet with the doctor...which I didnt experience in my other office. We went through my ultrasound and medication, my next appointment, and he seems optimistic about our chances so Im feeling pretty hopeful. Im happy I chose this office to start this process again after a painful and devastating loss.

I will first start out by saying I normally do not leave negative reviews or request not to see a doctor ever again. However, after meeting Dr. Trivax (who I originally met and liked in April virtually), I asked never to see him again. He was condescending and arrogant. Told me I have a disease, which if I had not looked on the patient portal and saw my Sema4 results I would have been devastated. What he was referring to was me having a recessive gene that would only be a problem if my partner carried it. Also it would be a 1/4 chance of our offspring having it even if we both were carriers (this was stated from his own mouth).I feel he was trying to strong arm me into getting my partner to get the bloodwork done even though they do not accept his insurance. To make matters worse, he had no idea why I was even seeing him. Keep in mind I am supposedly his patient. He did not even look at the notes from the previous doctor I saw in his own practice. In addition, he had no clue about something he and I discussed in April. This is a delicate and touchy subject for a woman. How do you as a fertility doctor tell a patient erroneous information? I should have left that office feeling hopeful. Instead, I left angry and extremely upset.On the flip side, I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Safier. She was patient and answered all of my questions thoroughly and thoughtfully.

I’ve only been here once so it’s a little hard to give a thorough review. So far so good. I seen Md Saffier who is nice. I had a really nice tech who help me so much and was very relatable. I think her name is Kayra ( I can’t remember). Very pleasant staff and have reallly good beside manner. Since I spent most of my appointment with the tech it’s hard to say how the MD was however she does seem to be attentive and helpful. I will give an update each time I visit ! Thank you Stony Brooks for helping me through this fertility journey.

Words cannot begin to describe our experience with Dr. Safier and Island Fertility, I wish I could give 100 stars. From the minute we walked in, I was already happy with the practice with just how personable they were with us. We were patients of theirs for about a year and they were there for us through all our ups and downs. They speak to you on a friend/personal level instead of a doctors office/patient level. They truly care about everything they do, from the front desk to the nurses, phlebotomists and doctors. If Dr. Safier wasnt available, Dr. Trivax and Dr. Stelling were always more than willing to help. It actually upset me when it was time to leave their practice, but it was all for good reason since we were 8wks pregnant and it was time to graduate to my regular OBGYN. Currently almost halfway through our pregnancy and still miss them all the time! THANK YOU Island Fertility, Dr. Safier and staff for everything you did for us/with us and I will always praise you and recommend anyone who needs to you guys!

Started there March of 2020 and had to wait to start a cycle due to the pandemic. Finally got going and was lucky enough to get pregnant in 4 iii cycles. Now my husband and I have an almost 6 month old baby boy and are excited to start back up in April when he is a year old. There can be a small wait at times but otherwise I love this office and the staff/doctors. :)

This was my second time going to Dr. Stelling. I followed him from his previous office. I got pregnant right away both times. I have a 2 year old daughter and we just found out we are expecting another daughter in May. We are so grateful for Dr. Stelling and the entire staff at Island Fertility. It is so comforting going to a doctors office where you truly feel comfortable with all the nurses and doctors. I would go back to Dr. Stelling again and again and would recommend him to anyone struggling to get pregnant.

Dr.trivax is a great he is honest and easy to talk to i am very thankful for him. And will be returning back to him :)

Extremely happy with the care I received at Island Fertility. Dr Stelling and all of the nurses were extremely supportive, on both my good days and bad days. I am currently 23 weeks pregnant; thank you to them all for making my dream come true of starting a family.

I highly recommend Island Fertility. From the moment I walked in, the staff were so welcoming, compassionate and knowledgeable. I am now 18 weeks pregnant and must give a HUGE thank you to the doctors and nurses for helping make my dream of starting a family come true.

The team is phenomenal. Dr. Sullivan Pyke is stellar, very professional, polite, thoughtful, caring and most of all, very “humane”.I strongly recommend Island Fertility.

Making an appt is stressful as I always get an answering machine and have to wait for their callback (also, their hours of business do not match their answering machine. Needs to be updated) but once I was there, everyone was efficient, helpful, knowledgeable and I was seen in a timely Manner.

I can’t speak highly enough about all of the doctors, nurses and office staff at Island Fertility. They are loving, compassionate people who made a difficult experience, positive. I’m proud to say, because of them we are expecting this November!

I absolutely love this office. Everyone is so wonderful and Dr. Hershlag is amazing. They made me feel so comfortable. I highly recommend everyone going there for your fertility needs!

I love dr trivax.....he is knowledgeable and patient the nurses are great but the front desk needs some improvement they are nice but the phone wait is ridiculous when you are on hold an the wait can be long in the front because they are booked an busy....but overall I would recommend definitely they give results

Everyone I’ve encountered here has been an absolute delight. I feel like I’m in the best hands with Dr. Trivax and am hopeful in our fertility journey for the first time in a long time.

The whole experience from start to finish at each appointment is so thorough, quick, extremely organized and I would recommend this place to anyone. I feel very comforted in their hands!

If you are reading reviews of a place like this, you are probably in the same disheartening position as my wife and I are in. Though we have just started our journey, the staff and Dr Trivax have been fantastic.

I like my doctor but the lady Erica at the billing area was rude and condescending when I asked about my bill and what was covered by insurance

I wait in my car for at least an hour waiting for them to call me up to the office just to then wait in the waiting room. Staff is very friendly but over booked. Ive been coming here for months and no results yet. I guess well see
